Module Management
Overview
DOLU.ai is a modular platform. Not every business needs every feature, so you can enable or disable individual modules to keep your workspace clean and focused. Disabled modules are completely hidden from the sidebar, dashboards, and API responses. Your data is preserved when a module is turned off — re-enabling it restores everything.
How to Access
Dashboard → Settings → ModulesFrom the left sidebar, click Settings, then select Modules. You will see a grid of module cards, each with a name, description, and toggle switch.
Available Modules
CRM (Contacts & Deals)
The core customer relationship management module. Manages contacts, companies, deals, and the sales pipeline.
- What it controls: Contacts list, Companies list, Deals board, Pipeline stages, Contact detail pages
- Dependencies: Many other modules (Campaigns, Appointments, AI Copilot) rely on CRM data. Disabling CRM will limit functionality in dependent modules.
- Recommended for: All businesses. This module should typically remain enabled.
AI Brain (Copilot)
The intelligent assistant that answers customer questions, qualifies leads, and provides sales support across all channels.
- What it controls: AI auto-responses on all connected channels, Copilot sidebar in conversations, AI-generated suggestions
- Dependencies: Requires at least one channel connected. Works best with CRM enabled for lead context.
- Recommended for: All businesses using automated customer communication.
Campaigns
Create and manage marketing campaigns across email, SMS, and WhatsApp channels.
- What it controls: Campaign builder, Audience segmentation, Campaign analytics, A/B testing, Scheduled sends
- Dependencies: Requires CRM (for audience segments) and at least one channel (for delivery).
- Recommended for: Businesses running email marketing, SMS promotions, or WhatsApp broadcast campaigns.
Appointments
Online appointment scheduling with calendar integration and automated reminders.
- What it controls: Appointment calendar, Booking page, Availability settings, Reminder notifications, Google Calendar sync
- Dependencies: Works standalone, but benefits from CRM (auto-creates contacts) and Google Calendar integration.
- Recommended for: Clinics, salons, consultants, and any service-based business with scheduled meetings.
Tasks & Projects
Kanban-style task management for internal team collaboration.
- What it controls: Task board, Task assignments, Due dates, Labels, Drag-and-drop columns
- Dependencies: Standalone module. No dependencies.
- Recommended for: Teams that manage internal work alongside customer-facing activities.
Support Tickets
Customer support ticketing system with priority levels, assignments, and SLA tracking.
- What it controls: Ticket list, Ticket detail, Priority assignment, Status workflow (Open > In Progress > Resolved > Closed), SLA timers
- Dependencies: Benefits from CRM (links tickets to contacts) and AI Brain (auto-creates tickets from conversations).
- Recommended for: Businesses with dedicated customer support operations.
Lead Scoring
Automatic lead qualification based on behavior, demographics, and engagement.
- What it controls: Lead score display on contacts, Scoring rules configuration, Score-based automations
- Dependencies: Requires CRM. Works best with AI Brain enabled (AI interactions contribute to scoring).
- Recommended for: B2B companies and high-volume sales teams that need to prioritize leads.
Analytics & Reports
Dashboards and reports for sales, marketing, and support performance.
- What it controls: Dashboard widgets, Sales reports, Campaign reports, Support reports, Export to CSV/PDF
- Dependencies: Reports are generated from data in other modules. The more modules enabled, the richer the analytics.
- Recommended for: Managers and business owners who need performance visibility.
Automations
Rule-based workflow automation engine for triggers, conditions, and actions.
- What it controls: Automation builder, Trigger events, Condition filters, Action chains, Execution logs
- Dependencies: Automations can reference events from any enabled module.
- Recommended for: Businesses looking to eliminate repetitive manual tasks.
Knowledge Base
Internal and customer-facing knowledge articles that feed the AI Brain.
- What it controls: Article editor, Category management, Public knowledge portal, AI training data
- Dependencies: Articles are used by the AI Brain for answering customer questions. Disabling this module limits AI accuracy.
- Recommended for: All businesses using the AI Brain. More knowledge articles = smarter AI.

Tips & Best Practices
Start Minimal and Expand
When onboarding, enable only CRM and AI Brain. Add modules as your team becomes comfortable with the platform. This prevents overwhelm.
Disable Unused Modules to Reduce Clutter
If your business does not schedule appointments, disable the Appointments module. A cleaner sidebar helps your team focus on the tools they actually use.
Review Modules Quarterly
As your business grows, revisit the Modules page every quarter. A module you did not need six months ago might now be valuable.
Do Not Disable CRM
The CRM module is the backbone of DOLU.ai. Disabling it will limit functionality across most other modules. Keep it enabled unless you have a very specific use case.
Troubleshooting
Module toggle not saving
- Ensure you click Save Changes after toggling. Changes are not auto-saved.
- Check your internet connection and try again.
- If the issue persists, refresh the page and try toggling again.
Sidebar not updating after saving
- Perform a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R).
- Log out and log back in.
- Clear your browser cache if the sidebar still shows old modules.
Automations stopped working after disabling a module
- Automations that reference disabled modules are automatically paused.
- Re-enable the module or edit the automation to remove the dependency.
- Check Settings > Automations > Logs for specific error messages.
API returns 403 for a module endpoint
- This is expected behavior. The module is disabled for your tenant.
- Enable the module at Settings > Modules and try again.
Data missing after re-enabling a module
- Data is never deleted when a module is disabled. If you do not see expected data, check your filters and date ranges.
- If the issue persists, use the AI assistant chat on your dashboard for troubleshooting help.
FAQ
Q: Does disabling a module affect billing? A: No. Billing is based on your plan, not on the number of active modules. All modules are available on all plans.
Q: Can I disable modules for specific team members? A: Module toggles are tenant-wide and affect all users. For per-user access control, use Settings > Security > Team Permissions to restrict access to specific modules by role.
Q: Will I lose my data if I disable and re-enable a module? A: No. All data is fully preserved. Re-enabling a module restores everything to its previous state.
Q: How many modules can I have enabled at once? A: There is no limit. You can enable all modules simultaneously.
Q: Can the AI Brain still answer questions about a disabled module? A: The AI Brain will not perform actions in disabled modules (e.g., it will not create appointments if Appointments is disabled), but it can still share general information from its knowledge base.
Q: Is there a recommended module setup for e-commerce businesses? A: For e-commerce, we recommend enabling: CRM, AI Brain, Campaigns, Lead Scoring, Automations, and Analytics. Appointments and Support Tickets are optional based on your operations.
