Google Ads

Overview

The DOLU.ai Google Ads integration connects your Google Ads campaigns directly to your CRM, giving you end-to-end visibility from ad click to closed deal. Instead of tracking leads in Google Ads and managing them separately in your CRM, this integration automatically captures leads from Google Ads Lead Form Extensions and Search/Display campaigns, creates CRM contacts, and attributes every deal back to the specific campaign, ad group, and keyword that generated it.

This means your marketing team can see true ROI — not just cost-per-click, but cost-per-qualified-lead and cost-per-closed-deal — all from within the DOLU.ai Reports dashboard. Your sales team benefits too, because every lead that comes from Google Ads arrives with campaign context attached, helping them personalize their outreach.

How to Access

Dashboard → Left Menu → Integrations → Google Ads

Once connected, Google Ads data also appears in:

  • Contact records → Source and UTM fields showing the campaign that generated the lead
  • Deal records → Attribution data linking the deal back to the ad campaign
  • Reports → Google Ads performance dashboard with CRM-enriched metrics

Key Features

Campaign Sync

  • Automatic campaign import: All active Google Ads campaigns, ad groups, and ads are synced to DOLU.ai
  • Real-time metrics: Impressions, clicks, cost, CTR, and conversions pulled from Google Ads API
  • Campaign status: See which campaigns are active, paused, or ended directly in DOLU.ai
  • Budget tracking: Monitor daily and total spend alongside CRM conversion data

Lead Capture

  • Lead Form Extension sync: Leads submitted through Google Ads Lead Form Extensions are automatically captured and created as contacts in DOLU.ai
  • Landing page tracking: When leads arrive via your website from Google Ads clicks, the UTM parameters are captured and stored on the contact record
  • Click-to-WhatsApp ads: Leads from click-to-message ad extensions flow into the DOLU.ai inbox with full attribution

CRM Attribution

  • Source tracking: Every contact created from a Google Ads lead carries the campaign name, ad group, keyword, and ad creative as metadata
  • Deal attribution: When a contact converts to a deal, the attribution data follows — allowing cost-per-deal calculations
  • Multi-touch attribution: Track when a contact interacts with multiple campaigns before converting
  • UTM parameter capture: Automatic capture and storage of utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content

Performance Analytics

  • Ads dashboard: Unified view of Google Ads metrics alongside CRM conversion data
  • Cost-per-lead: Calculated by dividing ad spend by the number of CRM contacts created
  • Cost-per-deal: Ad spend divided by deals created from Google Ads leads
  • ROAS (Return on Ad Spend): Revenue from won deals divided by total ad spend
  • Campaign comparison: Side-by-side comparison of multiple campaigns' CRM performance

Step-by-Step Usage

Connecting Google Ads to DOLU.ai

  1. Go to Dashboard → Left Menu → Integrations → Google Ads.
  2. Click "Connect Google Ads Account".
  3. Sign in with the Google account that manages your Google Ads.
  4. Grant DOLU.ai permission to read your Google Ads data (read-only access — DOLU.ai does not modify your ads).
  5. Select the Google Ads Account ID (Customer ID) to connect if you manage multiple accounts.
  6. Click "Complete Setup". Campaign data begins syncing within a few minutes.

Configuring Lead Form Extension Sync

  1. In the Google Ads integration settings, go to the Lead Forms tab.
  2. Enable "Auto-Import Lead Form Submissions".
  3. Configure the Field Mapping:
    • Google Ads "Full Name" → DOLU.ai Contact "Name"
    • Google Ads "Email" → DOLU.ai Contact "Email"
    • Google Ads "Phone Number" → DOLU.ai Contact "Phone"
    • Google Ads "Company Name" → DOLU.ai Contact "Company"
  4. Set the Auto-Tag for imported leads (e.g., "google-ads-lead").
  5. Optionally enable Auto-Create Deal with a specific pipeline and stage.
  6. Click Save. New lead form submissions will now flow into your CRM automatically.

Setting Up UTM Tracking for Website Leads

  1. In Google Ads, ensure your campaign URLs include UTM parameters. Example final URL:
    https://yoursite.com/contact?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=spring-sale&utm_term=crm-software
  2. On your website, embed a DOLU.ai Form or the Web Widget.
  3. DOLU.ai automatically captures UTM parameters from the URL and stores them on the contact record.
  4. When viewing a contact in the CRM, the Source section shows all UTM data and the associated Google Ads campaign.

Viewing Google Ads ROI in Reports

  1. Go to Dashboard → Left Menu → Reports.
  2. Select the "Google Ads Performance" report template (or create a custom report).
  3. View metrics including:
    • Total ad spend per campaign
    • Number of leads generated per campaign
    • Cost per lead
    • Number of deals created and won from those leads
    • Revenue generated and ROAS
  4. Filter by date range, campaign, or ad group.
  5. Export the report as CSV or PDF for stakeholder presentations.

Use Cases

E-Commerce — Product Campaign Tracking

An online store runs Google Shopping campaigns. Each product ad click is tracked with UTM parameters. When a customer inquires via the Web Widget, the conversation carries the campaign attribution. The store can calculate which product campaigns drive the most customer inquiries and actual purchases.

Healthcare — Clinic Appointment Bookings

A dental clinic runs Google Ads for "teeth whitening near me." Leads from the Lead Form Extension are auto-imported into DOLU.ai, tagged "google-ads-dental", and a deal is created. The Salesbot sends an automated WhatsApp message within minutes offering to book an appointment. The clinic tracks cost-per-appointment-booked from each campaign.

Real Estate — Property Listing Ads

A real estate agency runs campaigns for specific properties. Each campaign's leads flow into the CRM with the property name in the UTM parameters. Agents see which property the lead is interested in before making the first call, and management tracks which listings generate the most qualified leads.

SaaS — Free Trial Campaigns

A software company runs Google Ads for free trial signups. Each signup creates a contact tagged with the campaign and keyword that drove the click. The sales team prioritizes outreach based on which keywords indicate higher purchase intent (e.g., "enterprise CRM pricing" vs. "free CRM tool").

Tips & Best Practices

Use Consistent UTM Naming

Establish a UTM naming convention across all campaigns (e.g., lowercase, hyphens, no spaces). This ensures clean attribution data in your CRM and accurate reporting. Example: utm_campaign=spring-sale-2025.

Connect Lead Forms for Fastest Response

Google Ads Lead Form Extension leads can be auto-imported in near real-time. Combined with a Salesbot workflow that sends an immediate WhatsApp message, you can respond to ad leads within seconds of their submission.

Track Cost Per Qualified Lead, Not Just Cost Per Click

The real value of this integration is seeing which campaigns generate leads that actually convert to deals. Focus on cost-per-deal and ROAS metrics rather than just CPC or cost-per-lead.

Segment Ad Leads in Your Pipeline

Create a dedicated pipeline stage or tag for Google Ads leads so you can measure their conversion rate separately from organic leads, referrals, or other sources.

Troubleshooting

Campaigns not appearing in DOLU.ai

  • Verify that the correct Google Ads Account ID is connected in Settings → Integrations → Google Ads.
  • Check that the campaigns are active in Google Ads (paused or removed campaigns may not sync by default — enable "Show All Campaigns" in sync settings).
  • Allow up to 15 minutes for initial sync to complete.

Lead Form submissions not importing

  • Ensure Auto-Import Lead Form Submissions is enabled in the integration settings.
  • Check the field mapping — if required CRM fields (email or phone) are not mapped, the import may fail silently.
  • Verify that your Google Ads account has active Lead Form Extensions attached to campaigns.

Attribution data missing from contacts

  • Check that UTM parameters are correctly appended to your ad destination URLs.
  • Ensure the DOLU.ai Form or Web Widget is on the landing page where Google Ads sends traffic.
  • UTM data is captured at the moment of form submission — if the user navigates away from the landing page before submitting, parameters may be lost.

Metrics discrepancy between Google Ads and DOLU.ai

  • Google Ads counts clicks; DOLU.ai counts CRM contacts created. Not every click results in a form submission or lead capture.
  • Date range mismatches between the two platforms can cause apparent discrepancies.
  • Time zone differences between your Google Ads account and DOLU.ai tenant settings may shift daily totals.
